Behind the Mic: A Glimpse Into My Podcasting Process

When I first decided to start a podcast, I knew that it would be a learning experience. But what I didn’t realize was just how much thought and care would go into every step of the process. Behind every episode, there’s a world of preparation, creativity, and intention that makes it all come together. Today, I want to take you behind the scenes of my podcasting journey and share how I approach creating meaningful content.

1. Planning Each Episode

Every episode starts with a spark—an idea, a story, or a question I feel needs to be explored. I think about my purpose. I ask myself: What message do I want to share? How can this episode help or inspire someone else? Then, I outline the key themes and flow of the conversation. If I’m featuring a guest, I research their background and craft thoughtful questions that will bring out their unique perspective.

I’ve found that planning is more than just setting up the logistics. It’s about creating a space for authenticity. Each episode is designed to feel like a meaningful and new conversation, not just the same old content.

2. Setting Up the Space

Creating the right environment is crucial for me. My workspace is simple yet intentional—a microphone, a pen and notebook for taking notes, and a laptop with my recording software. I also make sure that the atmosphere feels comfortable, whether it is by lighting a candle, playing white noise or soothing music in the background, or having a cup of tea nearby.

This process isn’t just about equipment; it’s about setting the tone for ideas and creativity to flow and for connections to manifest.

3. Recording With Intention

Hitting the record button is always a mix of excitement and nerves. My goal during recording is to stay present and focus on the heart of the story. Even if there are mistakes or awkward moments, I remind myself that authenticity matters more than perfection.

One thing I’ve learned is to trust the process. Some of the best moments happen unexpectedly—whether it’s a guest sharing a profound insight or a story I hadn’t intended to tell.

4. Editing and Refining

After recording, the real work begins: editing! This is where I shape the raw conversation into a polished episode. I use tools like GarageBand to clean up audio, remove distractions, and ensure the flow feels natural.

Editing is a delicate balance. I want to ensure that the episode sounds professional while preserving some of the raw human moments that make it relatable.

5. Sharing It With the World

Once the episode is ready, I upload it to my hosting platform and prepare the descriptions, titles, and promotional materials. I ask myself, “What would make someone want to listen to this?” Sharing the episode feels vulnerable, but it’s also exciting to know it’s out there for others to connect with.

Why Do I Do It?

Podcasting isn’t just about creating content—it's about creating connection. Each episode is a chance to amplify voices, share stories, and spark conversations that matter. The process isn’t always easy, but it’s deeply rewarding to know that someone out there might feel inspired, seen, or motivated to change because of the work I am doing.

If you’ve ever thought about starting your own podcast, my advice is simple: Start where you are, and don’t give up! The journey may feel overwhelming at first, but every step forward is a step closer to making your vision a reality.

Stay tuned—there's so much more to come!
